Maternity Essentials in Nanyuki: What to Check Before Buying
Smalt Baby Shop stocks essentials for mothers as well as baby products. The catalogue includes manual breast pumps at KSh1,200, electric breast pumps at KSh2,000 and nursing pillows at KSh1,300. Build your list around your own needs rather than treating every accessory as a compulsory purchase.
What are the listed prices?
| Item | Listed price |
|---|---|
| Manual breast pump | KSh1,200 |
| Electric breast pump | KSh2,000 |
| Nursing pillow | KSh1,300 |
| Breast pads | KSh100 |
| Maternity pants | KSh150 |
Ask about sizes, pack quantities and available models before comparing totals. A price list does not show every product specification.
How should you compare manual and electric pumps?
Start with the exact model and its instructions. Ask what is included, how it is powered or operated, how the parts are cleaned and whether replacement parts can be obtained. For an electric model, confirm the power source and charging requirements rather than assuming it has a rechargeable battery.
Fit and suitability matter. A qualified feeding professional can help with individual feeding or expressing concerns. A higher price alone does not show that one pump will be the better choice for you.
What should you ask about a nursing pillow?
Check its shape, dimensions, filling information and cleaning instructions. Ask whether a cover is included and whether it can be removed for washing. Several patterns are shown in our photos. Ask which colours and patterns are currently available.
A nursing pillow is not a substitute for an approved infant sleep surface. Follow the manufacturer’s intended use and supervision instructions.
What about pads and maternity pants?
Confirm the quantity included in the breast pad price and whether the product is disposable or washable. Ask about maternity pant sizes, style and material. These details should come from the actual pack or garment rather than a generic description.
If you are buying for another person, ask what they prefer. Mother care products can be personal purchases, and matching an existing preference is often more useful than choosing solely by price.
